It was clear two weeks ago that the house was not going to be finished by the 9th of June. Close, but no cigar. Fortunately, I was able to extend the rental by a week and rebook the removalists for the 21st. So where are we now?
Just about to do a walk through with the builder! Hooray!!!
The building inspector came yesterday, and required a couple of things caulked up and the screens on the opening velux windows in the ceiling to be replaced – not fitted with metal screen, just nylon. Why would they supply this for BAL rated skylights??? But, as long as all the certifications for all materials stack up, she will issue occupancy.
Caulking and flashing the tops of the maxline steel and around the windows and packing out the bottom with extra steel (completed 10 minutes before the inspector arrived) meant that our BAL rating was finally achieved!
More paint touchups to be done, wooden floor scratch removal, rotating louvres commissioning, miscellaneous internal caulking and cleaning is all that’s left to be completed. assuming the walk around does show anything up.
The builders have agreed to replace the shower screen at no cost with the type that we were expecting, but that will be done after we move in.
We should take delivery on Monday 19th June!!!
